Parklife – the publication
After the successful first season of Parklife in Central Park, Urban Conversation (with the support of FORM and Hassell) is constructing a publication that will capture and preserve the remarkable, insightful and inspiring experiences that emerged from the 14 week programme.
Parklife was a project prompted by a larger global interest in the development of creative industries and spatial management, inspired by the bold words of Landry, Florida, Oakely and Howskins, and put together by a small group of young artists, academics and students. Running a fourteen week programme of speakers and performers in a park in the centre of Perth City, it aimed to carry on those words and conversations, engage its residents in creative and stimulating experiences.
This publication is a collection of conversations, speeches and reflections from the presentation of Parklife ‘Spring’ 2007. It is a documentation of the talks given by six speakers, including eminent theorists in the area of sustainability and creative industries, and will also include a variety of interviews with performers, artisans and business owners involved in the project.
